Richard Shelby On The $700B Bailout ::

I've gotta say that I am happy about Shelby's position in opposing the financial industries run on us, the taxpayers, and our treasury. I'm happy to see at least a modicum of integrity and honor from our senator!

Shelby has truly shown integrity and leadership during the recent economic turmoil. At least ONE politician is attemtping to hold their feet to the fire...

I certainly don't agree with much of the bail-out. But, seeing as I hope to go into I-banking, I feel a need for some sort of economic assistance. Perhaps I'm becoming a lunatic conservative with all their deregulation and bailout. Who knows :(

It's not so much that I'm against the bailout package as I'm against as I am about the attempt to ram it down our throats with so little thought. The $700B figure was simply pulled out of thin air and no one knows the true cost of the program.

I recently finished Naomi Klein's "Shock Doctrine" and I see many elements of how other countries were manipulated financially in this package.

If you haven't read the book then I heartily recommend it!
